Eyebrows are one of the most important things when it come to doing my makeup so when I ran out of my Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, I obviously had to restock. Because I was still not financially stable at this time, I looked around for a good dupe. NYX is one of my go-to drugstore brands so I was excited to see that they had an eyebrow pencil similar to the Brow Wiz. I was not sure how I felt about the pencil at first but a gave it a couple a chances before I decided how to feel about it. Keep reading to see if this pencil is a hit or miss! Enjoy!
I got this brow pencil in the color Espresso. I personally think this color is too warm for me but the next dark color was brown black, which I think would have been way to dark for me. The first thing I noticed when applying it was that the formula was not as creamy as the one for the Brow Wiz. It was a bit hard to apply at first because of this but I have no problems with apply it now that I’m used to the pencil.
The second thing that I don’t really like is the color issue. I think they should have a shade in between the Espresso and the Brown Black, but then again, I didn’t actually sample the brown black.
Overall I think my biggest issue with this pencil was that it was not as creamy of a formula as I was used to but it’s really something that you get over after a while. At first I was really disappointed with this pencil and I didn’t want to use it anymore. Because I had no choice, I decided to tweak how I apply the brow pencil a bit and that seemed to help out a lot.
I’ve been using this pencil for about a month now and I think it’s a great dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Brow Wiz and also a cheaper alternative($10). I do recommend this pencil for someone that is on a budget, however, once I go through the NYX pencil, I will be going back to the Brow Wiz.
Have you tried out the NYX Micro Brow Pencil? What are your thoughts on it?
